Read on to find out more about Hassan, his experience working through Gemography, and what he’s most passionate about...

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm Hassan, 30 years old, Fullstack Developer, aka the "jack-of-all-trades" – I was accepted onto Gemography back in 2018 and I got matched with a Tech Startup "DigiServ", which is part of BMCI & BNP Paribas Group, located in Casablanca, Morocco.

‍

Typically I start up my computer, grab my coffee and start running through the work. As a Fullstack Developer, I work closely with Frontend and Backend teams to make sure the work is going smoothly, then I put in my headphone and carry on with my to-do list, which entails doing cross-functional work on both the server-side and client-side.

What do you find most interesting about your role?

Building products that provide great value to users. Currently, I'm working on an exciting project 'Bricall' which is a platform for connecting customers and artisans/experienced craftsmen from different specialties – built on Typescript, Angular, Node.js & Express.

What led you to applying to Gemography?

I remember the first time I've stumbled upon Gemography was on their company page on Glassdoor –– while I was browsing tech companies in Morocco. I was very impressed and did not hesitate for a sec to take the shot and apply. After going through the hiring process (Take-home Coding Assignment, and Technical Interviews), not only could I tell they were the real deal, but it was the first time I had a meaningful conversation at a job interview. The rest is history.

Any favorite programming language you like to work with?

Team Angular all the way. Though recently, I've been leaning more and more towards React too.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Developing skills and learning in a fast-paced environment is the best approach to grow in life. But it's also sometimes quite challenging for me. But overall, it's great to be laser-focused on developing products that provide added value to customers.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I like reading books. I'm generally into the Saga type. The most recent one I'm currently reading is called "How to Survive Camping (The Man With No Shadow)" –– Yes, you'll always find me hooked on Reddit’s r/nosleep subreddit.

What about video games?

Not sure if it's a video game but I love Chess! Although I do qualify as a total beginner, but I find it pretty fun. It empowers both strategic and tactical thinking. It helps me stay concentrated and relaxed.
